Cyclist on Food Stamps
I officially signed up for a week of the Food Stamp Challenge. On Jan 2nd, to start off the new year, I will live off $30 for one week, which is what one person in my area would receive in food stamp assistance. I wanted to document the week, so opened up a blog. I hope to post my experiences, inlcuding grocery shopping, meals, struggles, and tasty victories.
I have been inspired by how some of the youth I worked with at CCF struggled with nutrition, particularly while trying to participate in athletics. I think it will be an eye opening experience to mix training, nutrition, and a $30/week grociery budget.
Challenges:
Not buying anything outside of my $30 budget
Not getting jelous of the food that my boy friend Dave is going to be eatting, since he will not be participating
Riding, particularlly on the weekend, when you want to come back and eat EVERYTHING
Eatting a balanced vegitarian diet
A hand up?
I eat pretty board and plain, so I don't think I am going to be missing and craving anything monumental. Alot of what is on my initial list (to be posted soon), are boaring and inexpensive foods I already love. Some say I eat weird bird food....
